OMG N.D. Knocked this one out of the park!!! I’ve never craved a murder mystery, forbidden romance more than I do now!!! Usually, I am not a big fan of forbidden romance, but I’m hooked on this!! I absolutely loved Cali and Connor! They are well rounded, relatable, and absolutely perfect for each other!! Cali is a freaking badass, and Connor, he’s definitely morally grey, but definitely a sweetheart!! He gives off touch her and 💀 vibes in the best way!!
This is one of the slowest slow burns I’ve read in a while!! The entire time I was BEGGING for them to kiss, and when they finally did 🤌🤌🤌 This book has spice, intrigue, mystery, drama, all the things you want in a book!!

forbidden romance, close proximity, slow burn tragic pasts, morally-grey mmc, strong and boss-woman fmc... it's an all in one dark romance 😍 also all of this intertwined with the murder mystery. I was very surprised at how all of it came to light by the end of the book! Roland's writing was amazing, kept me hooked and pining for more.
Connor and Cali are so amazing. I adored them both. They were both emotionally scarred and their relationship felt so real! The tension between them was intense.
Uhm, let's talk about the spice that was SPICING btw!!🌶️🌶️🌶️ like, where do I get myself a Connor?😂

This book was an unexpected, wonderful surprise.
The writing? Smooth. The worldbuilding? Easy to slip into. The plot? Completely gripping - devoured in one breath.
Calling it a slow burn wouldn’t be accurate because the charged atmosphere between the main characters is insane. That tension, that buildup - it’s toe-curling. And waiting for the spark to finally explode? Excruciating. 😏
Calliope Stavros is powerful, sharp, a true boss-lady. But behind closed doors? Feminine, vulnerable, soft - though, let’s be real, she can take charge anywhere. 😆 And then there’s Connor Mitchel - dangerous, talented, carrying a past that could break anyone, yet with a heart that loves and cares just as fiercely. Yes, this is a taboo romance, but my dark and twisted heart couldn’t see them as anything but right. Their past and future? That’s another story to be told.
If I had one tiny critique, the mystery/investigation aspect felt a bit predictable. But honestly? Who cares when you’re drowning in an electrifying emotional storm? 😈 Team do-it-now-and-stop-denying-it all the way!
